Business License Fee Schedule

5.08.030 CATEGORIES - ESTABLISHED AND DEFINED:

Category "A" - Retail Sales and Services: Any person conducting, managing or carrying on a business consisting mainly of selling at retail any goods, wares or merchandise, or conducting, managing or carrying on of any trade, occupation, calling or business designed to render accommodations or services of individual skills and not otherwise specifically licensed by other sections of this Chapter shall be licensed as Category "A" (Examples - service stations, ambulance service, barber shop, restaurant, janitorial service, delivery vehicles, realtors and security guards).

Category "B" - Wholesaling and Manufacturing: Any person conducting managing or carrying on a business consisting mainly of manufacturing, packing, warehousing, processing, carrying or selling at wholesale any goods, wares, merchandise or produce, and not otherwise specifically licensed by other sections of this Chapter, shall be licensed as Category "B".

Category "C" - Professions: Any person engaged in the business activity of rendering professional services and not otherwise specifically licensed by other sections in this Chapter, shall be licensed as Category "C".

Category "U" - Public Utilities: a.) Telephone Companies: Every person engaged in the business of providing telephone services shall be licensed at Category "A". b.) Other Utility Companies: Every public utility company selling parts or appliances at retail within the City shall pay a business license fee for said activity in accordance with the schedule for Category "A".

5.08.040 - FEE SCHEDULES - CATEGORIES "A", "B", "C", AND "U":

The company owner or first partner : $50.00
Next nine persons, per person : $ 4.25
Next forty persons, per person : $ 3.00
All other persons, to a total of 250, per person : $ 1.85
Employees over 250, per person: $ 1.25
All vehicles in excess of one, per vehicle : $22.50
For service stations, per gasoline fuel pump : $12.00
Application processing fee: $25.00

"Employee" means all persons engaged in the operation or conduct of the business, as owner, owner's family, partner, solicitor, agent, manager and all others working or employed in the business.

5.04.225 - CONTRACTORS STATEMENT REQUIRED:

Any general engineering contractor, general building contractor, specialty contractor or subcontractor, before engaging in business within the City, or applying for a renewal of a business license, shall file, or have on file, with the City, a signed statement that such license or applicant is duly licensed under the state law including the Business and Professions' Code of the State of California. Such statement shall state the contractor's license number and that it is in full force and effect or, if said applicant is exempt from having such a required license under the Business and Professions' Code of the State of California, shall furnish proof of the facts that entitle him to such exemption.

All contractors, subcontractors and builders, whether building of their own occupancy or not, shall file with the license collector a full, true and complete written list, signed by such contractor or builder, of all subcontractors performing any service whatever for such contractor of builder within the City for which a license is required under the provisions of this title before such subcontractors actually commence work on the building, structure, or project. Any subcontractor subcontracting any work shall be deemed a contractor for the purpose of this section.

Final inspection on any building, structure, or project shall not be given by the Building Department until all contractors, subcontractors, or servicing businesses performing any work on such building, structure or project are duly licensed.

5.08.030 CATEGORIES - ESTABLISHED AND DEFINED:

Category "D" - Contractors, Developers, Subdividers and Owner/Builders: Any person engaged in the business activity of a general engineer contractor (Class A), general building contractor (Class B) and swimming pool contractor (Class C53), as defined by the State of California Contractors License Law; and any person engaged in the business activity of building construction as the owner thereof and not otherwise specifically licensed by other sections of this Chapter, shall be licensed as Category "D".

The next 9 employees, per person : $4.25
The next 40 employees, per person : $3.00
All other employees to a total of 250, per person : $1.85
Employees over 250, per person : $1.25
All vehicles in excess of one, per vehicle : $22.50

Category "E" - Subcontractors: Any person engaged in the business activity of a specialty contractor (Class C, except C53), shall be deemed a subcontractor, and if not otherwise specifically licensed by other sections of this Chapter, shall be licensed as Category "E".

The next 9 employees, per person : $4.25
The next 40 employees, per person : $3.00
All other employees to a total of 250, per person : $1.85
Employees over 250, per person : $1.25
All vehicles in excess of one, per vehicle : $22.50
